Enjoy a magical experience, starting with a playful ―what if morning and ending with gorgeous, fantastic creations! We will create ―Happy Accidents using an old National Geographic magazine and a natural cleaner called Citrasolv.
Original images will be transformed into swirls, wacky textures, gorgeous colors and patterns, and surreal images.

Don't know how to paint? Super!!!! NO RULES in this class. Jump in and enjoy the ride. Create fantastic found paper collages, mix paints and glue stuff to make masterpieces, paint with your fingers. Create found object artwork out of JUNK, make a book collage like Cathy's featured in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. Create your own beautiful, textural papers using plain tissue paper, old magazines, junk mail and more. Add images and patterns using transfer techniques and monoprinting.

An art journal can be a space for questions that may not have answers, a place for thoughts that may otherwise not have a home and a safe container for emotions so that they do not have to be loose in the world. It can also be a place to play and experiment with art materials.
In this retreat you will spend two full days in my studio making visual art journals. You will learn lots of new techniques that will help you create interesting backgrounds, add text and images, including using Citra-Solv on pages. This is two days of play, but the pages you make may also have something to share with you. The journal you create will serve as an ongoing "portal of inspiration" and a place to record what you want to express in your life and your art. The cost is $175 for both days including all art supplies and lunch on both days. Class is limited to 6 participants.

For eight weeks, I will help you increase your creative repertoire by demonstrating new mixed media techniques.
