FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Citra Solv Helps in the Fight to Save the Gulf June 8, 2010, Danbury, CT -- Citra Solv, LLC has joined the fight to control the devastating damage from the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Just in time to celebrate World Ocean Day, the company has sent samples of its plant-based, natural dish soap, CitraDish, to the organization spearheading the relief for birds affected by the oil spill. CitraDish was donated to Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, who is leading the wildlife rescue efforts following the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf. CitraDish is a naturally derived dish soap that breaks the adhesion of dirt and oils to a surface, allowing them to rinse away. Since CitraDish is made from renewable resources, it is safe for the environment, as well as for wildlife. The detergent currently being used by Tri-State to clean the birds is a petroleum-based solution. "The environment has always been a primary concern of ours," said Melissa Zeitler, co-founder of Citra Solv, LLC. "It's been heartbreaking to watch all of this unfold, and we're proud to be able to offer our products to help this very important ecological battle." CitraDish can be instrumental in helping safely remove oil from the plumage of birds, a potentially fatal situation. The oil from the spill impairs birds' flight abilities and penetrates the plumage, reducing their insulating ability, and making them much less buoyant in the water. Birds may also ingest the oil that covers their feathers while preening, causing kidney damage, altered liver function, and digestive tract irritation. Citra Solv concentrated solution has also been endorsed by several bird publications as a safe and effective cleaner. For more information, visit www.citrasolv.com. |
